My little Jelly Bean!

Standard

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to see my little jelly bean when we have our ultrasound on Friday. I must say that my pregnancy experience has been a rather pleasant one so far. Other than the occassional headache and feeling tired all day, I’ve really not felt to badly.  I had a few days where I felt a little sick, but that was short lived. I keep waiting for the nasty pregnancy symptoms to kick in, but will be content to skip all of those!

Tomorrow I will be 6 weeks. Half way to the 12 week mark where I can breath a sigh of relief that the first trimester is over!  Trying to keep myself busy so they fly by.  But I really want to relish this whole experience, so I don’t want it going too quickly!

I must say, though, that I need for the next 3 days to fly by so that I can see my little jelly bean on the ultrasound!! 🙂

T minus 4 days!

Standard

Waiting to go to our 6 week ultrasound has been the hardest thing to do! We are so anxious to see our little one and hear the heartbeat!

We’ve both been extremely cautious since the miscarriage, and will be happy to see a little heartbeat and know for sure that things are on the right track!

Wendover OBGYN called me today and I have to say I was a little concerned when the phone rang. I had already heard my results on Friday and my appointment for the ultrasound was already scheduled.  I was pleased to hear that it was the nurse getting back to me after letting Dr. Mody know my lab results. She told me that Dr. Mody was very happy with the levels and that my progesterone levels were excellent! I was very happy to get that reassurance, but nothing will take the place of seeing our little one on Friday!!!

It’s T minus 4 days and counting…..

On the right track baby!

Standard

I went to the doctor today to get another blood test done to make sure that my hcg levels were doubling every 48 hours as they should be. My OBGYN is fantastic, and watching this pregnancy closely because of the miscarriage.  It took like 6 hours for the nurse to call back, so it was a loooong day of waiting!  When the nurse called back, she explained last time they checked (at 4 weeks) my levels were 54.  So, by last Sunday they should have been 108, and by last Tuesday they should have been 216, and by Thursday (yesterday) they should have been 432…. So naturally this makes me really nervous and my heart sunk.  I was fully prepared to hear bad news.  Then the nurse continued and said… “Well! Your levels are at 2,102! So that’s good!”  I was so excited to hear that. Since my levels are high enough and next week I will be 6 weeks, she went ahead and scheduled me for an ultrasound for next Friday! :o) I can’t wait to hear the heartbeat and finally relax and know that everything is going to be alright!

Travis and I have been holding our breath for a week now, and with this good news, along with my great levels that continue to increase, we can finally exhale and get really excited about this pregnancy!!

Surprise, Surprise!!

Standard

Travis and I had to wait until tonight to tell his parents because his father was out of town. We had wrapped 2 bibs. One says “I love grandma” and one says “I love grandpa”. I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when they open them up!  They think we are taking them out to dinner to thank them for watching our dogs while we were at the beach, so they won’t be expecting this at all! 🙂

Even though it is still super early, I found myself wandering through various websites about baby clothes, maternity clothes, and even researched my materinity leave. I found the cutest onesy that I’m sure Travis would love as well! Haha!

Waiting By the Phone

Standard

Since going into the doctor on Friday, I have been waiting by the phone for a call from the nurse.  Along with the qualitative test to tell whether I was pregnant, my doctor ordered a quantitative test to see what all of my levels were like.

I FINALLY heard back from the nurse and she told me that my progesteron levels were 28.9, which were good for 4 weeks (when I was tested)…and that my HcG levels were 54, which is also in the normal range. It made me feel sooo much better to know that, because last pregnancy, my HcG levels were 5 at 6 weeks!!

I go back to the doctor on Friday to have another quant. blood test done to check that all of my levels are continuing to increase. I’ll be happy to see that everything is doing well!

PS – I am 5 weeks tomorrow! :o)

Spreading the News!

Standard

I was so excited about finding out that I was pregnant, that it took less than 5 minutes before I was texting a picture of the pregnancy test to my mom!! Since the last pregnancy and miscarriage, I’ve kept my mom pretty up to date on my ‘status’….so I wanted to let her in on the good news. I also caught my dad on the phone before he went into a meeting. He’s now deciding on whether he wants to go by “Gramps”, or some other name…. (My mom has already chosen “Nana”… haha)

Since Travis was working all weekend, I decided to take the puppies and go to Rolesville to spend some time with my parents. I had a great time getting to relax and celebrate the news with them!!

Travis and I are planning on having dinner with his parents tomorrow and telling them the news. We are still in the process of a creative way to surprise them with it news! (*I will keep you updated on what we decide to do!)

I’m feeling great, except for being tired (and taking daily naps) and a little bit of nasuea.  I’m not quite 5 weeks, so I should be starting to feel more obvious symptoms in the next week or two. Here’s hoping they’re not too bad!

Doctor’s Visit

Standard

I called and scheduled a doctor’s visit as soon as I found out I was pregnant.  They did a blood test and confirmed that I wasn’t just seeing plus signs!!  I got a starter kit of prenatals (even though I’ve been taking them already) and they gave me the blood test box that said positive… “For your baby book” the nurse said.  That was the first time (besides Travis and my family) that someone had acknowledged that I REALLY AM pregnant!! Such a wonderful feeling!

I don’t think I’ll forget this day. I also have to mention that its our puppy, Chloe’s, 1 year birthday today.  I guess I can’t forget about her in all this excitement! 😉

Surprise Daddy!

Standard

Telling Travis that I was pregnant was a typical moment for us!  I took a pregnancy test the day before and I saw just the faintest of a + sign.  It was almost like I was convincing myself it was there. So, I dragged Travis of bed at 6am, and made him look too.  Since he could barely see the line, I knew I wasn’t crazy!

The next morning, I woke up to take my temperature and went to the bathroom to take another test. I was a little discouraged because when I took my temperature it had dropped 1/10 of a degree. Not much, but I was hoping it would go up or stay up (which is a sign of pregnancy).  So I peed on the stick, and walked away. I was not expecting to see anything because I thought it might be too soon or that my temperature went down for a reason.  I was so happy to see that + sign!! :o)

So, I crawled back into bed and woke Travis up. I told him that I wasn’t sure if I could see a line, so I asked if he would check it. Half asleep, he replied, “I’ll do it when I wake up!”  After some begging from me, he threw the covers off and stormed into the bathroom. When I peeked in the door, he was standing there staring at the test… He turned around and smiled and said “Looks like a plus to me!!”

I was just the greatest moment! 🙂

Whoa Mama!

It’s been a loooong 3 months to get to this day!  Travis and I decided long before we were married that we wanted kids as soon as we were hitched!  Apparently so did my mom, because at our wedding while dancing with Travis she whispered something about a ‘honeymoon baby’.  ;o)  Well unfortunately, that didn’t […]
