Our little gymnast

Standard

I remember getting to excited when I felt the faintest flutter in my belly!  Well now, there is NO DOUBT that she’s in there!

I can feel her at several times throughout the day.  I’ve noticed that she’s on a bit of a routine (and so am I now!!)  She likes to kick and punch around 8am when I’m sitting down with my first guided reading group… and I have to admit, it can be a bit distracting! 😉  She’s also pretty active around lunch time when I finally get to sit down and relax for a minute. It’s nice to have some quiet time to myself and Carsyn 🙂

I also feel her several times in the evening, but she’s most active between 8-9 when I’m either getting ready to workout, grade papers, or in this case tonight…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! 😉  She also likes to roll around when I lay down to sleep, and when Travis comes home from work. Last night I was so cold and Travis put is warm hand on my stomach. Carsyn gave him the hardest little kick! He loved it!  He can also lay and watch her move in my belly, and you can see my stomach twitch and move around when she’s really active.

In the past week, Carsyn has also begun a habit of waking me up at night several times moving about. She likes to let me know she’s in there about every 2 hours. Last night it was 1:15, 3:30, and 5:00!

Although the movement at night can leave me a bit drained by the morning… I wouldn’t change it for anything in this world! It’s the best feeling ever, and I’m so happy to have constant reassurance she’s doing well in there! 🙂

I’m also so happy that now Travis can share in this exciting time with me!

Here’s a pic of my baby bump at 24 weeks 🙂

Hello, Daddy!!

Standard

So Travis felt his baby girl kick today!

When I wake up,  I usually lay in bed for a bit and rub my belly.  Not sure if it’s more of a habit or just me not wanting to get out of bed!

Anyways, I really had to go to the bathroom (even after the 3 times I had been up through the night).  My bladder was full, and maybe that pushed Carsyn closer to the front of my belly.  I could feel her kicking up a storm and then noticed that I wasn’t just feeling her on the inside, but the outside as well. Sometimes it’s hard for me to tell the difference because I’m feeling her on the inside so much.

I woke Travis up and made him put his hand on my stomach.  He said ‘good morning’ to her, and layed there for only a few seconds; then she gave the biggest kick ever.  He jerked his hand away and had the biggest smile on his face. I’m so glad that he finally got to feel her! It just made my day because he was so happy!!

Worked a little bit more on the registry today. Getting ready to do some reading. Seems like there’s something new to learn every day! ;o)

Here’s to the ‘Happiest Baby on the Block’!

Standard

I just ordered the book “Happiest Baby on the Block”… here’s to hoping Travis and I can pull it off! 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog, because sometimes life just gets in the way…

Travis and I have been working on the nursery and registering at Babies R Us! We’re so excited to know that it’s a girl, and that we can finally start picking things out! It’s making this all that much more real to us!  Oh course my ever expanding belly, mood swings, and cravings are keeping me in check that this is no dream! 😉

Travis and I decided on a paint color for the nursery…peach! It took about 10 minutes to pick out. It was a perfect color too. *I have to give Travis all of the credit because he was the one who found that color!

Travis and I are *in love* with the bedding set that we picked out! It’s got adorable baby jungle animals and is in ‘girly’ colors, but not too girly according to Travis! haha.  He may still be in denial that he’s the sole male member on “Team Pink” 😉

We are so excited to have Traci come and paint a mural on our walls to match the baby jungle animal theme! I know she’ll do a great job and it will look amazing!

I’ve not really had to many new symptoms since last post. I’ve been pretty tired at the end of the day and am seeing a little swelling in my feet at the end of the day…but I DO stand all day, and this isn’t anything I haven’t experienced before! Hopefully it’s not something that will get any worse!

I’m noticing my belly growing a bit, but overall haven’t gained all that much!

I’ve been feeling Carsyn quite a bit lately and have even noticed a bit of a rountine. She’s a lot more active when I lay down at night. I feel her little kicks, and sometimes feel like I can feel them from the outside. I’m not sure if I’m just convincing myself that I am, because Travis has yet to feel her. I have also noticed that I feel her move every morning on my way to work. Not sure if it’s the drive, or if she likes what she’s hearing on the radio 😉  She has also jerked a few times when I turn on the blow dryer! haha.

A coworker and friend brought me a gift after my 18 week ultrasound and the card read:

“Dearest little Carsyn. This is an ‘I’m so happy you’re a girl, and that you have 10 fingers and 10 toes’ gift.”  They are so cute!

I’m 21 weeks and 2 days today. It feels great! Here’s to another happy and healthy week! :o)

Halfway there!

Standard

I finally have a minute to sit down and update this!

I’ve been really busy at school, and feel like I’m super worn out by the time I get home. Travis and I have been busy on the weekends too.

We’ve got the baby furniture all set up in the baby room, and are planning paint colors to begin painting soon!  My parents also got us the bedding set that we picked out and we’re so excited to be able to see it tomorrow when they come! :o)

Travis and I were so excited to find out the our little one is a girl! We were told at our 12 week ultrasound that the tech thought is was a boy. So we were convinced we’d hear ‘boy’ at our 18 week check up. We were a little shocked to hear ‘girl’ since we’d convinced ourselves it was a boy!

We’re so happy to finally be planning and buying for little Carsyn Elizabeth Jones! :o)

I’ve been feeling her pretty regularly now, and love it! I can’t wait until Travis can feel her too! Not too much longer and he should be able to feel his little girl for the first time!

We’re celebrating my 20 week halfway mark with a movie and laying around on the couch. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Friday!! ;o)

Baby Flutters!

Standard

Lots of exciting things going on this week! It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to update this blog, school has been busy! I love my class, but all of the paperwork and other requirements of the job are taxing!

Let me catch everyone up on the happenings since my last post! We’ve had a lot of firsts! 🙂

I started really noticing my belly growing and bulging out of my old pants, so my mom took me for my first shopping trip to the maternity store. Boy was I in heaven!! No more belly bands and stretchy waisted pants are the best! I left wondering why I had to wait until I was pregnant to discover these pants! 😉

Travis and I had an ultrasound at 12 weeks, but it seemed like forever since I’d been to the doctor or heard the heartbeat! I couldn’t feel the baby move yet, so naturally I was anxious to hear all was well!  I went to the doctor yesterday and heard our baby’s heartbeat again and it was 164bpm.  After that, I made another shopping trip to Motherhood Maternity to buy another pair of comfy jeans to wear to work the next day.

Last night I was up and down and couldn’t sleep. At about 5, I got up to use the restroom and then as I got back in bed, I heard Travis was up. As soon as I got comfortable…. I felt the baby move!!!  It was unmistakably the baby and no other stomach rumblings!  It almost felt like the soft bristles of a paintbrush tickling the inside of my belly.  I gasped and told Travis “I just felt the baby move!!” Travis was so jealous that he couldn’t feel it. He put his hand on my belly to see what he could feel, but couldn’t feel anything yet.  I can’t wait until he can feel it too. (I also felt it once at school today when I was sitting at my computer working on plans.) So exciting!!

I’ll be 16 weeks tomorrow, and can’t wait for many more new experiences! 🙂

2 is better than 1

Standard

I’m into Trimester 2! Woohoo! So exciting to get to the milemarker. While I’m still waiting on the renewed energy part, I’m just happy to be where I am!

I’ve been sick the past few days with a sore throat and runny nose and sneezing. I don’t have a temperature, and think it’s more allergies than anything else. I’ve read my books and blogs to make sure I’m not doing anything to harm the baby. I’m gargling with salt water and drinking shots of honey and lemon juice (the only shots I’ve had in a while… exciting, lol).  I’m taking cough drops (alchohol free) and just waiting it out!

I’m hoping that my lack of energy is from feeling this way and not still the pregnancy. I’m ready for some energy, and since I’m in week 13, I fully expected to have that ‘boost’ immediately into my 2nd trimester (I know I’m not always a patient person!)

Tonight Travis and I had ‘date night’ because he was actually off on a Friday (he goes back to work tomorrow).  I managed to make it through some shopping at Babies’R’Us for a baby shower (which Travis was so excited to do, it was cute.)  Then I managed through dinner at Macaroni Grill–one of my fave places.  Once we made it home with the movie and to snuggle on the couch, that was the end of me! I think I saw it to 8:30 or so last night. That may be why I’m up at 5am writing this… Or it could be that I couldn’t breathe and my throat was hurting! Either way, I feel bad for only making it through a potion of ‘date night’, but came to the realization that this woud probably be future date nights when he have the baby! HAHA.  Travis said the same thing as he woke me up and got me tucked into bed. And to be honest, I don’t think either of us mind 🙂

Here’s another picture form our 12 week ultrasound. This one’s called ‘alien baby’ I’m sure you can figure out why…

12 weeks! WooHoo!

Standard

Travis and I went to my 12 week checkup today. I was so anxious this morning that I couldn’t sleep in until 5:30 (which is considered sleeping in on weekdays)…I was up at 5 thinking about how excited I was to see our baby and hear the heartbeat.

From many nights of googling ’12 week ultrasound pictures’ I had an idea of what we would see… but I had no idea what it would actually feel like! We got to look at our baby for about 20 minutes, and I could have layed there and watched that baby for hours! I hated for our visit to come to an end.

I cannot feel the baby yet, but boy was it moving today! Just like a Jones (myself included of course!) the little one was stubborn and kept switching directions and moving around! At one point it was looking straight at us, and then it would roll over and turn its backside to us! One time we thought it looked like the baby was sucking it’s thumb…so cute! It was also so amazing to get to hear the heartbeat, which was 169 beats per minute.

I didn’t want the visit to end, but atleast we got a lot of pictures to go home with.

Along with pictures, we came home home with a huge sense of relief and excitement. Everything looked wonderful and the tests we had done all were fine. We’re so happy to be at this point, and to really feel like we can breath a sigh of relief. I know it won’t stop my constant worry about this and that, but certainly puts my mind at ease to see a healthy little baby in there… and maybe a boy! (according to a guess by the ultrasound tech!) We’ll see for sure in 6 weeks!

Maternity Pants

Standard

This past weekend I went shopping with my mom and tried on some maternity pants. Turns out its going to be even more difficult for me to shop for clothes than I had thought! I’m going to have to get TALL maternity pants! I found some really great dress pants in tall at JCPenney and they are really affordable! So I ordered a pair in all three colors! I’m excited to get them because with my belly band that I already have, I can start wearing them now!  By wearing the belly band on top of the maternity pants, I can forget about trying to squeeze into my work pants that won’t zip all the way or button, and go straight for the spandex ones! 🙂 Ahhh… comfort… 🙂

Travis and I are SO EXCITED about Thursday when we’ll have our 12 week check up and get another ultrasound picture of our little one!!!

Travis is already so excited about my slight bump, and says he ‘CAN’T WAIT’ until it grows more! haha! 😉

Granny Panties

Standard

So, this may be a bit too much information, but one thing I’ve found is that being pregnant has made me a lot less modest!

I’ve found lately that it’s time to put my thongs in the drawer for a nice pair of ‘granny panties’. LOL. So last night, Travis and I went looking for a good pair.  He was so interested in helping me, it was funny!  We found a nice pack of 3 that promised ‘no wedgies’ (haha!) and that they wouldn’t move.  I opted for the higher waisted ones because I didn’t want my ever-growing belly to feel like it was flopping over my underwear.  Welllll…. let’s just say we got a GOOD laugh last night!

When I went to try them on, they were quite a bit ‘higher waisted’ than I expected, and the bottoms came up to about the middle of my back! HAHA!  Not to mention I overestimated the size and my bottoms were a little baggy. Travis was so sweet to tell me ‘They. look. okay…’ but judging by his expression I could tell he was less than impressed! lol

Tonight I found a pair of bikini briefs than are NOT high rise and still promise to be ‘wedgie free’ (that still makes me chuckle!).  Turns out they work perfectly. I can finally let go of the thongs (for now, as Travis made me promise) and continue my quest for comfort as my body goes through these changes!

Green olives or chocolate milk…. or BOTH?!

Standard

I’ve started having some food cravings!  For the most part I really didn’t have any food aversions, or anything that I HAD to have. But lately I’ve started thinking about the strangest foods, and can’t get it out of my mind until I eat it!

It started when I was grocercy shopping last week, and passed by the olives.  I just had to buy a jar of green olives.  That jar is now completely gone!  Every once in a while I would think about them and have to go to the fridge to pop a few…. or even more tempting, they were in the door of the refridgerator, so every time I opened itup, they were there reminding me of how much I ‘needed’ them.

Then something on TV made me think of chocolate milk.  I’m not eating chocolate, drinking tea or coffee or anything with too much caffiene in it.  One night, I just HAD to have it! A little chocolate here and there won’t hurt!  It was so satisfying that its my new favorite ‘treat’ when I want something sweet.

Last night it was Chick Fil A.  Not just a craving for nuggets, but a full meal!  I wanted a Chick Fil A sandwich (with the yummy pickles!) and the waffle fries (accompanied with Polynesian sauce for dipping!)  I cannot tell you the last time I’ve had Chick Fil A, or fast food for that matter, but it was probably the BEST. MEAL. EVER! I didn’t even feel guilty for inhaling it when I finally made it home with my meal!

Well…. this morning I had a meltdown! (It happens a lot more lately)  I woke up craving french toast!  Travis was still sleeping, but I needed food SOON!  I tried to go ‘see when he would be up’ and he told me he wanted to sleep more. (Grr!)  So I decided pancakes with maple syrup would be the next best thing (we didn’t have bread…we need to go to the grocery store desperately!)  Soooo… I measure out the mix and get an egg, then go to grab the milk that was in the fridge last night.  UGH! Travis had finished it off last night while I was sleeping!  So now, knowing that french toast, or anything close to it was not going to happened I literally screamed in frustration! (How could he finish off the milk last night while I slept…didn’t he know I’d want to make pancakes in the morning?!?!… haha)

So now I’m over my tantrum, but really still craving some french toast… might be a Breakfast For Dinner night tonight! 🙂
